Town Dimovo

The town of Dimovo (Vidin District) is located in North-West Bulgaria. It is center of Dimovo municipality. This is one of the youngest settlements in Northwestern Bulgaria. It is situated at main road E79 Vidin-Montana, 33.16 km. south of the regional center of town of Vidin. The town is passed by river of Archar, and 7 km. in east direction is located Rabisha dam - suitable for fishing. Neighbour living places are villages of Ostrokaptsi, Bela and Valchek.

Dimovo was founded about 1851 under the name Osmanie after the migration of the Circassians who were chased out of the Russian Empire and accepted by the Ottoman Empire. It is very probable that there had been an older settlement on its site, but the historical data are scanty. In the years after the signing of the San Stefano Peace Treaty in 1878, and the retreat of the Turks and the Circassians towards Asia Minor, Christian families from Aegean Thrace and the Belogradchik Province settled on the site of the present-day town of Dimovo. The newly founded settlement was named Barzitsi after the nearby river.

Cultural and tourist attractions:
- There is a museum of partisan Zivko Puev-Dimo.
- Eco-trail "Radovo bar" (June 5, 2007 ), Which leads to a summer-house with a fountain.
- Monument of the Romanian soldiers who died for the liberation of Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish War.
