Village Kostichovtsi

The village of Kostichovtsi is located in Vidin district (North-West Bulgaria), and is one of the villages from municipality Dimovo. It is situated 6.75 km. Southeast of the municipal center town of Dimovo and 7 km. from the main road Vidin - Montana. Neighboring villages are Shipot, Dalgo pole and town of Dimovo. Along the village flows the river of Skomlya and 8 km. east is located dam of Drenovets (suitable for sport fishing).

History: There is a legend about the creation of the village. Population of the area was straggled around in different neighborhoods, so the local Turkish Bey decided to collect them together in one village and in this way easier to collect the taxes. Legend said it was happened at the place where today Dolnokrayska fountain is situated. When they started digging, they found bones. Bulgarians exclaimed: "kosti" ("bones") but Turks shouted: "chok", meaning "many". A combination of these two words gives the name of Kostichovtsi village.

Cultural sights:
- water fountains along the river of Skomlya.
- The local church of St. Nicholas Miracle Worker, built in 1892 at the base of the old church from the Ottoman times. In the churchyard is built a monument of the fallen in the Balkan Wars and World War II.
