Village Chuprene

The village of Chuprene (Vidin district) is located in North-West Bulgaria. It is center of Chuprene municipality. The village is situated 73.31 km. South of the regional center of Vidin. Neighbour villages are Varbovo, Targovishte and Replyana. Along the village passes the river of Chuprenska. There are barbel, chub and trout, to the delight of anglers.

History: The earliest traces of life in these places are dated from 10,000 years ago (the remains discovered during archaeological excavations of ancient settlements around the villages near the village Chuprene and locality Lalkingrad). For the origin of the village name there are 3 versions: The name comes from "chula" - a beautiful girl, by "Chuprina" - a bunch of trees or from "Cuprija" - bridge.
