Village Varbovo

The village of Varbovo is located in Vidin district (North-West Bulgaria), and is one of the villages from municipality Chuprene. It is situated 4.43 km. North of the municipal center village of Chuprene. Neighbouring villages are Chuprene and Borovitsa.

History: There were two brothers Varban and Chifut. They  escaped by the Turkish and arrived near current village of Varbovo in the area of "Katunishte", near the clear cold spring between the Varbovo and Chuprene. After time the brothers were separated and one of them (Varban) was settled in the current Varbovo village (from its name Varban origins the name of the village) and other brother Chifut - in Chuprene.

Landmarks:
- In the village is situated the oldest preserved church at the Balkans. It was renovated and frescoes in it restored.
- From the village start two eco tracks, resulting to some beautiful places as "laga" and "Pod venetsa" in the foot of Stara Planina mountain.
- In Varbovo was built a memorial of the victims of the Belogradchik uprising.
