Village Svejen
The famous village of Svejen is situated in the heart of Sarnena gora Mountain, near the river of the same name, 34 km southeast of the town of Karlovo and 60 km. northern from the town of Plovdiv.
As soon as you pass the board "Svejen village", you will enter the spirit of the Bulgarian Revival times - a monastery school, a reading club from 1868, and a church.
The residents of the village have actively participated in the Аpril uprising in 1876. The village was burnt down after its suppressing.
In the architecture ensemble are included 100 old houses, which are left standing by miracle of the mass blazing of the village from the turks. All these houses are announced for architectural monuments of the culture.
Interesting sight in the village of Svejen is the clock tower, which was built upon the place of the most beautiful master houses, burnt to the ground during the Ottoman raids..
