The village of Malevo (Smolyan District) is located in the foot of Rhodopes mountain in South-Central Bulgaria and belongs to the Municipality Chepelare. Its situated near by the villages of Hvoyna and Orehovo, 35km from ski resort Pamporovo and some km from Bachkovo. Malevo village is one of the few villages in Rhodopes mountain where the inhabitants profess the Eastern Orthodox faith. There are some churches and temples in the region: church "Vaznesenie Gospodne", chapel "Vyara, Nadezhda i Lyubov", chapel `Sveti Panteleymon`, chapel "Sveta Bogoroditsa" and others.
