Municipality Ivaylovgrad
The Ivaylovgrad municipality is located in South-Central Bulgaria (Haskovo District) in the southeastern part of the Rhodopes Mountain and takes up the northwestern part of Lower Thracia. The Municipality consists of municipal center town of Ivailovgrad and 50 villages. It is 110 km away from Haskovo, 80 km from Svilengrad and 60 km away from Lyubimets railroad station. In the east it has a common border with the Republic of Greece. The climate is transitional Mediterranean. The relief in area of Ivailovgrad is formed by the curves of the Rhodopes Mountain elevations, which gradually transform into vast fertile valleys. The region is rich in water resources - the Arda River and the Ivailovgrad Dam Lake. There are deposits of rock and lining materials that have been developed.
