The village of Popitsa (Vratsa district) is located in North-West Bulgaria and is included in municipality Byala Slatina. It is situated on the left bank of the river Skat, on a flat and rich in springs area. The nearest villages are Tarnak and Enitsa (East), Barkachevo (south), Komarevo and Sokolare (west) and the municipal center town of Byala Slatina (5 kilometers to the north). Popitsa is passed by IV-class road network, which connects it with the towns of Vratsa and Mezdra. The transport to the town of Byala Slatina is by regular buses and 2 licensed taxi companies. The village has a school, community center and home for the elderly people.

The region of Popitsa is rich of ancient villages and archaeological sites. The village was involved also in the antifascist movement and the region has lots of guerrilla hideouts.
