Village Kravenik
The village of Kruvenik is located in North-Central Bulgaria. It is part of Sevlievo Municipality, Gabrovo District. Kravenik is situated 28 km far from town of Sevlievo (3 rd class asphalt road).
It is the center of the April Uprising in the central Balkan region in 1876. Baban mountain peak is situated 2 km to the south of a hamlet called "Old Kravenick". Baban is the place, where F. R. Milenov- one of the famous voivodes and his men announced the beginning of the uprising on May 1, 1876.
4 km westward of Kravenick there is a defile, called “Gradnishki Boaz” - it is the place, where the rebels had a 9 day battle against the Turks. Now there is a memorial complex there - 2 monuments and a fountain. Every year people come to that place to take part in National celebration in memory of the fighters for National Liberation.
