Village Kunino

The village of Kunino (Vratsa district) is located in North-West Bulgaria and is included in municipality Roman. It is 10.11 km. north of the municipal center town of Roman. Neighbour villages are Radovene and Reselets. Kunino has a railway station. Through the village passes Iskar River which is suitable for fishing.
There is a legend about the origin of the village name. According it, the name is derivate of name of Kuna Kralitsa (Queen Kuna), who killed her own self jumping from the rocks, in order to avoid becoming hanum in the palace of the Sultan when the Ottomans broke the local defence.

- Historical Museum, disposed on two floors in the home house of akademic Sava Ganovski. The ground floor exhibits related to history Kunino, among which 40 pc. copies of the flint artifacts from the Paleolithic Age, Neolithic pottery, fotopana of marble slabs and altars of the Thracian and Roman times (the originals are kept at the Archaeological Museum in Sofia), Roman and Byzantine coins, facsimiles of Ottoman documents (with translation), and others. Exposure to second floor is oriented to the communist movement in the village. Ethnographic collection, which illustrates everyday life, clothing and crafts in Kunino from the second half of the 19th century is situated in a restored adjacent house.
