Village Kravoder
The village of Kravoder (Vratsa District) is located in North-West Bulgaria and belongs to Municipality Krivodol. It is situated 12.45 km. South of town Krivodol, 20 km from the district center town of Vratsa and 5 km to the Vratsa-Balkan mountain range. Neighboring villages are Pudria, Glavatsi and Botunya.There are regular buses throughout the day to Vratsa and Montana.
Kravoder is is an old medieval village and welded with its current name by the Ottomans at the end of XIV century. It appears in Ottoman documents from 1430. In the Antiquity and Middle Ages there were intense Thracian life.
Amenities and landmarks of Kravoder:
- West of the village are situated eight Thracian burial mounds.
- In the area were found silver Roman denarius. A trove of bronze coins minted in the Roman town of Viminatsium on behalf of the Emperor Gordian III was found in 1936 near the village
- At the ruins of the fortress "Tranchovo kale" (located west of Kravoder) was found part of a marble slab with Latin inscriptions from the III-rd century.
- Around Fortress Gradishte was found a treasure of silver coins minted during the reign of the Bulgarian Tsar Ivan Alexander / 1331 - 1371/. Some of them are exhibited in the Historical Museum in Vratsa.
- Matnishki medieval monastery is is located near Kravoder.
