Village Studen izvor
The almost deserted village of Studen Izvor (Pernik District) is located in South-West Bulgaria and is included in Municipality Trun. It is huddled in the green slopes of Mountains, a few kilometers away from the Serbia - Bulgaria border and from the town of Tran. Its permanent residents – some elderly people - live with its clean air, with the silence and intense scent of flowers and herbs.
The village is famous with fact it is the birthplace of Dr. Stamen Grigorov, the Bulgarian scholar who in 1905 reported about the discovery of the bacterium that produces lactic acid and helps curdling of milk (yogurt). 2007 a museum devoted to Dr.Grigorov was unveiled in village of Studen Izvor.
