The Zlatitsa Municipality is located in the Zlatitsa-Pirdop Trough (South-West Bulgaria in Sofia District). The railroad transport is represented by sections of the Sofia-Toulovo-Karnobat Third Main Railroad. The Republican road network passing through the municipality includes parts of the 1-6 Sofia-Bourgas Main Road, which crosses the town of Zlatitsa.
The main reasons for the lack of active tourist activity are the unsuitable conditions for the development of traditional ski tourism, the polluted environment (which also hinders the eco tourism development) and the general lack of tourist infrastructure. The municipal Svishti Plaz Hut in Stara Planina Mountain receives tourists all year round. The region offers good conditions for winter and summer holidays. The terrain in Zlatitsa area is suitable for camping.
