Village Kaloyantsi
The village of Kaloyantsi is located in South-Central Bulgaria at the place where the Perpereshka flows into the artificial dam-lake of Stouden Kladenets on the river Arda and the two bodies of water meet. It is included in Municipality Kurdjali (Kardjali District). It is a calm mountain village, located between high peaks. To the South-West of the village is located the "Jumruk kaya" peak or "Fist rock". From the top of the peak surrounding area is fantastic visible - around 13 villages, part of the town of Kurdzhali, the peak where is located the famous medieval fortress "Monek" closely to the village of Shiroko pole and the Thracian town of Perperikon which is preferable place for tourists. There is view to the "Studen Kladenest" dam-lake which inspires calmness. This is the second large dam-lake in Bulgaria - 25 670 dka. To the south of the top of the mountain is situated a natural reserve, where stag of a fallow deer can be seen. "Fist kaya" is also a natural reserve where visitors can see the rare kind of falcon.
It is known too little for the history of the village of Kaloyantsi. The exact date for its existence is not known but it is supposed to be at the beginning of XIX century. The village had a Turkish name "Karabasla" for which there is a legend. The mosque into the village is 115 years old.
