Village Golyam izvor
The Village of Golyam izvor is located in North-Western Bulgaria. It is included in Municipality Teteven (Lovech District). It is situated 15 km away from town of Teteven, along the Oselna river. The foundations of an ancient Roman fortress and pottery from Thracian, Roman and Slav Times have been discovered around the area of the village.
The village was founded in XIII century by refugees from Kiev - its first name was Kievo or Kievski Izvor, later it was renamed - Bulgarian Golyam Izvor.
In 1870 Vasil Levski founded there a revolutionary commitee and because of its big activity the Apostle of freedom named it First Regional Revolutionary Commitee in Bulgaria.
