The Stambolovo municipality is located in in the northeastern part of the Eastern Rhodopes Mountains (South-Central Bulgaria) in Haskovo District (22 away from the district centre city of Haskovo). The Municipality consists of 26 villages (municipal center is village of Stambolovo). The terrain is rough and hilly. The municipal road facilities consist of third- and fourth-class roads of total length of over 135 km. The monuments of culture of national importance are on the territory of Stambolovo municipality are: the archaeological complex in the Hambar Kaya Area in the village of Dolno Cherkovishte, consisting of a Thracian settlement, a cult place, rock niches and a tomb; Rock wine cellar (shaparana) in the Kayryaka Area near Dolno Botevo; The Quarry in the village of Kralevo; rock tombs near the villages of Popovets and Pchelari; the Assara medieval castle near Rabovo village.
