Varshets Municipality is located in the southeastern part of Montana District at a 30 km distance from the District Center (town of Montana) and at 90 km from Sofia. Varshets town is a balneology and climatic healing resort of national importance. A large part of the territory of the municipality to the east falls within the natural park Vrachanski Balkan. Varshets Municipality is serviced mostly by road transport. The nearest railway line Sofia - Mezdra crosses the neighboring municipality of Svoge. The prospect of construction of Danube Bridge 2 and construction of a tunnel under Petrohan gorge gives rise to the expectation for improved access to Sofia. There are suitable conditions for construction of micro water power plants, which will not distort the environmental balance and will directly satisfy the needs of the local users - dairies, greenhouses, various production workshops.
The major wealth of the municipality, which is a resource for tourism development, is the mineral water near Varshets town, which in combination with the favorable natural conditions generates a unique tourist product. The temperature of the mineral water is approximately 37°C and has pleasant taste, it is suitable for water treatment - internal (drinking) and external (pools, taking various types of bath tubs, underwater massage).
